Friday the 13th Game Cheaters to Be Permanently Banned

Although Friday the 13th: The Game had a rocky launch last month, it seems as if publisher Gun Media and developer IllFonic are finally getting a handle on most, if not all of the survival-horror title’s issues following the matchmaking update that was released a couple of weeks back. Now, Gun Media is turning its sights toward players deliberately ruining the experience for other fans who are abiding by common online etiquette and decency, by issuing a decree that those who cheat or violate the company’s core set of guidelines for the game will receive a permanent ban.

The publisher announced as much on Friday the 13th: The Game‘s official subreddit, spelling out all the ways in which a player can be booted from the title altogether, with those who intentionally use third-party hacking software and consciously abuse exploits to gain an advantage in-game set to be banned permanently. Perhaps more importantly, though, Gun Media has stated that it will also ban those using voice chat to harass other players with racist or discriminatory language, or with threats of violence, rape, and sexual assault.

Gun Media has also said that there will be bans for “the Jason player and those . . . ‘deliberately’ helping Jason win a match through killing other teammates or working to farm XP.” Not to mention, the Friday the 13th: The Game publisher isn’t fond of folks pretending to be employees of it or IllFonic, with those who pose as figures from the companies in any capacity receiving a permanent ban, too.

Taking all of this into consideration, it looks like Gun Media is definitely ready to take a hard line stance against those who openly go against any of the aforementioned offenses, for not only will such bans help the company curb glitches and refine the overall integrity of the game itself, but also it will assist in improving the title’s online community as well. With any luck, all of Friday the 13th: The Game‘s fans will figure out how to beat Jason or take out camp counselors legitimately while also maintaining respect for their fellow gamers from here on out, but there are surely still going to be some bad apples in the bunch who will ultimately end up getting hit by the Ban Hammer.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
